Masonic Homes is the arm of Freemasonry that operates commercially in providing care and lifestyle options for senior Australians. The origins of the present Masonic Homes date back to the late 1890's when land at Glenelg North was donated by Mr.W.H. Gray for the purpose of providing accommodation for Freemasons and their families.
This land was subsequently acquired by the State Government, but the proceeds were later used to establish the Masonic Homes, which today have facilities in Adelaide and Darwin. Founded on the principles of Freemasonry, Masonic Homes offer care and lifestyle options to all people regardless of their creed, race, or financial status.
Today Masonic Homes operate some 1000 retirement units, 400 beds in nursing homes and 300 in-home care packages in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
