The historic Moonta Lodge Room was the setting on Saturday 14th May 2016 when the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge No. 16 and Thorngate Lodge No. 118 performed the Re-enactment Ceremony of the Twinning of Lodges.

Twenty four Brethren were present to witness the Ceremony including

VWBro. Peter Camm, District Grand Superintendent.

No-one was able to give an accurate date, but it is believed that the Twinning of the two Lodges goes back almost forty years.

VWBro. Robert Hughes, Master of Thorngate Lodge was born and raised in Moonta. RWBro. Ian Archibald, Master of Duke of Edinburgh Lodge, (although not born in Moonta),  has family history dating back to the early days of Moonta. Both Masters had family who were early members of the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge. Interestingly enough, the wife of each Master was also born and raised in Moonta. One might say, a good weekend for the Cousin Jacks & Jennies!

At the conclusion of the Ceremony a Celebratory Dinner was held at the Port Hughes Tavern. The Ceremony will be re-enacted again in 2019, with Thorngate Lodge to host the Meeting.
