RW Bro. Archie Moss received his 50 year jewel on Sunday the 18th May at the Gleneagles Aged Care

His brother WBro. Geoff Moss and MWBro. Robert Parsons made speeches and presented the 50 year jewel to Archie.  A private room was booked for the occasion which was well attended by brethren representing several Lodges in our Jurisdiction. After the presentation the brethren shared in a light afternoon tea.

 

Archie joined Edwardstown Lewis Lodge No 207 on the 13th April 1963, became Master in 1968 and 1985 and later joined Edwardstown Lodge No 168 in 1988 and became Master of Edwardstown Lodge No. 168 1989-90. He joined Prospect Royal Arch Chapter, Bon Accord Mark Master Masons (now Brighton), Royal Ark Mariners, Rose Croix, Order of the Secret Monitor, and Knights Templar. Archie was appointed as Grand Steward in 1971 and through the years held various Grand Lodge roles, including Inspector of Lodges, member of the Board of General Purposes for over 10 years including Vice President for 3 years, Chairman Ritual and Procedures and Membership Committees.  He also acted as Grand Secretary during times of illness of the Grand Secretary.

 

Acting on several Committees for the Centenary Planning of 1984 his proudest moment was organising the concert in the Festival Theatre assisted by David Crawford (Past Grand Master Mark Masonry). He was awarded the Order of Service for Masonry in 1988.

 

He was appointed Senior Grand Warden in 1998. Archie’s Freemasonry family connections include his son-in- law RWBro Max Murrie (Assistant Grand Master), RWBro Tony Wilson (Past Senior Grand Warden) who is married to Archie’s niece Judy (daughter of his late brother John Moss M.B.E. who was also a Freemason) and his younger brother Geoffrey, (Past Grand Tyler) and is also the Master of Edwardstown Lewis Lodge.
